We’d love to learn more about you. Describe your role on the team.

I’m one of two Technical Integration Engineers (shoutout to Bilal!) and get assigned to customers after the sales team does the handoff. I currently have 10-12 customers alongside Callyn and Claire, our Customer Success Managers. A typical day starts off with coffee and going through my Slack messages. I am the first line of technical support for our customers. I could be troubleshooting, debugging, coding, or updating our documentation. I spend a lot of time in our database and building resources we can use internally to make things more efficient. You can also find me on customer calls catching up with our customers on their journey.

Describe your journey into Engineering

I have always loved computers. I remember when my mom got our first computer, I was obsessed. I was on it 24/7. When I was 12 or 13 years old, I bought a graphics card for the family computer and learned how to install it myself so my friends and I could play Call of Duty on the PC for hours.

I got into all kinds of things like torrenting music and movies (the stuff you weren't supposed to be doing). Then in college, I was tech support for all my friends. I set up emulators so we could play Mario Kart on our laptops during class (another thing I wasn’t supposed to be doing). I studied communications and public relations then took a python coding course. I ended up loving that much more so I did a full stack engineering boot camp. I started getting jobs in engineering and that led me here.

What attracted you to Method?

It felt like a great fit after meeting Jose, Marco, Quyen, and everybody. My first impression was that everyone is really nice, crazy smart, and very focused. I saw that everyone was having fun while building out something that's awesome. This felt like an environment that I could really thrive in and exactly where I want to be. I have the fintech background from Adyen and I missed the start up world, so Method was the perfect blend of what I was searching for.

How does your work impact people's financial lives?

I get to advise our customers on how to build their roadmap. It’s exciting to help them produce a product that’s beneficial to their mission. In the end, what they build allows their end users to know their financial history, make payments, or take action managing their debt. Sharing how they can use Method to power all of this is what makes my work meaningful.

Describe Method’s culture.

Our culture is pretty awesome. Everybody is so smart and every single person is very motivated to succeed together. It’s easy to talk to anyone and find common ground through interests, hobbies, etc. and it’s rare to find people who don’t just rest on their laurels. There’s an autonomy to be who you are. It’s a healthy culture where we don’t take ourselves too seriously while making sure we get things done. It also helps that we all love coffee and tea and are never short of caffeine 😄

Tell me more about the hub that you work in and what do you like about it?

The New York City office is very diverse. We have a bit of everyone in this office from Customer Success, Sales, People, to Engineering, everyone is pretty much represented.

I think it's really cool to see Method from all different parts of the company so that we can stay dialed in. We know what we're doing is affecting the bottom line and know how the company is growing. We’re a good tight knit office and go out for drinks or food after work, too!

What's been your favorite memory with the team so far?

That’s a tough one but I think the ziplining day in DC was one of the funniest. We were all tired the night before from traveling. We weren’t ready for this at all but then we started and I thought, oh, this is pretty sick. We were zooming through the jungle! There were a lot of funny moments that happened. We all climbed up the ladders, had to clip and reclip (safety first), and were screaming at those who forgot to clip in. It was hilarious. I'll never forget Stephen Luc on the last obstacle. He comes flying in, skids, and immediately stands there for a picture saying, “Let tell you about Method” and I said, “I'll listen to whatever you have to say, man!”

Last question, Method is redefining financial connectivity. Why should people come and build with us?

I don't think anybody does what we do. Any problem we find is solved for very quickly with our talented team. On top of that, we're always looking for ways to improve and grow our customer base. As we learn more and more about the industry, where we fit, and what people are using us for, we start building. There's no time to sit around and think it over for too long. The engineering and product team have tons of gumption to build. People who join us for this ride are going to get a bounty of constant projects to push.
